What information CivicShield collects
CivicShield stores the information you choose to create and save: incident records (including sender names, phone numbers, email addresses, message previews, and notes), opt-out request records, and notices you generate. We also store your account email address and basic account information needed to operate the service.
Why we collect it
We collect incident and evidence data so you can document unwanted political outreach in one organized place. Without this data, CivicShield couldn't provide its core features — incident tracking, violation timelines, evidence storage, and notice generation. We collect account information to authenticate you and protect your data.
How information is used
Your data is used to provide the CivicShield features you use: displaying your incident timeline, storing your evidence, generating notice drafts, and showing your dashboard. AI is used to help draft notice text based on the information you provide. We do not use your personal data to train AI models or sell it to third parties.
How information is stored
Your data is stored in your CivicShield account on servers managed by our platform provider. Access to your data is restricted to you and authorized platform administrators for support purposes. We use the security infrastructure provided by our hosting platform and do not claim specific encryption certifications.
Who can access your information
Only you can access your incident records, evidence, and notices. Authorized platform administrators may access account information for support and maintenance. We do not share your personal data with political campaigns, advertisers, data brokers, or any third party.
Whether information is shared or sold
We never sell your personal information. We do not share your incident data, evidence, or notices with any third party — not with political campaigns, PACs, advertisers, or data brokers. Aggregate, anonymized statistics (such as the total number of incidents documented) may be displayed publicly — but never in a way that identifies individual users.
How long information is retained
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account or specific incidents, that data is removed and cannot be recovered. We do not retain your data after account deletion except where required by law.
How to delete your information
You can delete individual incidents, evidence, or notices from your dashboard at any time. To delete your entire account and all associated data, contact us through the Contact page. Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
How AI is used
CivicShield uses AI to help draft notice text based on the information you provide about your situation. The AI generates a draft that you review and edit before using. AI does not make legal determinations, guarantee outcomes, or act independently. You are always in control of what is generated and how it is used.
What AI does not do
AI does not make legal decisions, provide legal advice, file complaints on your behalf, communicate with senders, or take any action without your review and approval. AI does not access your personal data beyond what you provide for notice generation. AI does not train on your personal data or share your information with external AI services.
